If your phone has been exposed to water or other liquid and is not functioning properly, there are a few steps you can follow to give your tech a better chance at saving your phone or tablet. All types of liquid will cause damage, and in some cases, the phone may be beyond repair.

It is important to act quickly when trying to fix water damage on a phone. The longer the phone remains wet, the more likely it is to suffer permanent damage. Follow these steps as quickly as possible:

1.    Remove the phone from the water as soon as possible and turn it off. Continuing to use the phone while it is wet can cause further damage.

2.    Dry the phone off as much as possible. Use a cloth or paper towel to blot away any standing water. Be sure to dry the charging port, headphone jack, and any other openings on the phone.

3.    Remove sim card, sim tray and battery if possible to reduce damage to them.

4.    Bring it to the repair center as soon as possible to give us the best chance to repair it.

Be prepared to leave the device for at least 24 hours to give us ample time to repair and test your device.

Here are a few ways to prevent water damage on your phone:

  • Keep your phone away from water and other liquids: This may seem like a no-brainer, but it's easy to accidentally drop your phone in a sink, toilet, or puddle. Keep your phone in a dry place and avoid using it near water when possible.

  • Use a protective case: Invest in a phone case that is waterproof or water-resistant. These cases can help to protect your phone from accidental spills and splashes.

  • Avoid using your phone in extreme weather conditions. Store it in a safe place as you navigate through rainy or snowy weather and try to avoid pulling it out until you're in a dry place.

  • Keep your phone away from wet surfaces: Be mindful of where you place your phone. Avoid setting it on wet surfaces or leaving it in areas where it could be exposed to moisture.

By following these simple tips, you can help to prevent water damage on your phone and keep it functioning properly.
